Cowboy Action Shooting

Howdy Cowfolks:
Well, we completed another amazing day of Cowboy Action Shooting, and were absolutely blessed with a beautiful day of weather. The skies were mostly sunny, with an occasional breeze to wipe away the smoke that bellowed from the guns of the black powder shooters. The high temperature was only 76 very comfortable degrees. 47 shooters gathered to throw their lead down range at a mix of scenarios including sweeps, multiple target engagements, and plenty of movement between firing positions. Nineteen categories were represented. 70 % of the shooters achieved their bonus rifle shot at 60 yards up the hill. We were happy to welcome back Bodacious Jim to the firing line. He has been unable to shoot with us for a while due to some health issues and his work schedule. He had not forgotten the paces and enjoyed a great day with old friends. Sunset Sam joined in the shootin' match after a lengthy drive from northern Indiana, and Axel Dumire got his first taste of Cowboy Action Shooting. It's always great to see new folks, regular shooters, and those who have been absent for a while, join together for some Yee-Haws and a step back into the memory of the Old West.

Congratulations to : Fargo Bill and Tombstone Diamond for their "Clean" match for the day.

Happy September Birthdays to: Christian, Cumberland Drifter, Don't Know Diddly, Dusty Walker, Dutchman Swart, Marshall Spencer Owen, Nomore Slim, Smiley, and Woodchuck Willy.

Having completed seven matches this year, several folks were able to begin dropping their higher scores from matches earlier in the year, and improve their position in the annual awards competition. We only have two more months, October & November that will apply to annual awards. If you don't have your six matches completed for the year, make sure to shoot in October & November, if you still need two matches to qualify. The scenarios in October will be designed very fast to allow folks another opportunity to improve their standing for the year. If you blink you may miss an entire stage. November scenarios will be set at the more normal pace.
