June 2010 Newsletter |

The weather was a cooker for our June 19 match, but we completed the match without anyone falling out, or having issues related to the 92 degrees and high humidity. The salvation for the day was a continued breeze to clear away the black powder smoke, and cool our sweat soaked clothing. Several folks took advantage of wearing short sleeve skirts, and the Classic Cowboys were allowed to leave their vests and chaps hanging on the gun carts. As a result of the report of "Heat Warning" throughout southern Indiana & Kentucky, a threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the early morning hours, and Father's Day, only 26 shooters showed up to test their Cowboy Action Shooting skills, and fire their cast lead bullets down range. 55 % of the shooters achieved their bonus rifle shot at 69 yards, and three shooters were "Clean" for the day. Congratulations to: Redneck Rebel, Fargo Bill, and Dakota Kid Curry for not missing a single target all day. We welcomed a new member and shooter to Thunder Valley for this match: "Dart". For his first CAS match he demonstrated excellent gun handling skills and didn't miss a target for the entire match. It's rewarding to see a new comer show up prepared and ready to begin this sport in the right direction. Happy June birthdays to: Badlands Barb, Drew First, Fargo Bill, Long Horn Clem, Lorenzo Lain, and Randy Atcher. Ginger Star injured hear knee while chasing her horse through the pasture, and will be having knee surgery in the near future. No new reports of illness or injury from any other shooters. The Season Standings for March, April, May, and June will be sent out immediately following this newsletter. Not much other new information to report. See Ya, at the next match. Sincerely, Redneck Rebel |
