July Newsletter

Howdy Cowfolks:
If you stayed home and did'nt attend our July shoot, you should nominate and award yourself as Couch Potato of the month. We had an absolutely amazing weather day for the month of July. 70 degrees, overcast, and/or partly cloudy all day. Twenty categories were represented, and 91% of the shooters achieved the rifle bonus shot at 60 yards up the hill. The targets rattled from the speed of the faster shooters, and the air was filled with smoke from the black powder folks. The average shooters let their lead fly down range and enjoyed a splendid day. We will be very fortunate to experience a weather day as perfect as this one during the remainder of the year.
Irish Straight is successfully recovering from foot surgery, and Don't Know Diddly is healing from a nasty 3rd degree burn to his leg.
Happy July Birthdays to: Garnie High Spade, Gibbon Bote Borrels, JJ, Little Henry, Pee Wee, and Redneck Rebel.
Congratulations to Indy Kid, Fargo Bill, Flintlock Fields, Graver, Sheriff Jay, and Lorenzo Lain for their "Clean" match for the day.
We welcomed two new shooters to the club: Plainsman Paul, and Jumpin Jerry. They both had a fun filled day, and hopefully will join us again soon.
We will have the Season Standings updated for you very soon and get those in the email.
The season started off this year with fast matches designed for March and April. May, June, and July were a mix of fast stages and a variety of sweeps at others. In order for folks to have the opportunity to achieve a lower total match time and reduce their average stage time during the second half of this shooting season, the scenarios for August and October will be designed as very fast, with a speed scenario at Stage #8. This will provide an opportunity for those who did not have a speedy start to the season in March and April to improve their overall standing for the year. September and November matches will be a mix of sweeps and multiple target engagements. The annual awards for all categories will be presented at the December 5th match. Reminder: You must attend six (6) matches to qualify for the annual awards in a specific category.
Not much else new to report. The Indiana State Shoot will be ongoing July 24-26, and the Regional Event will be coming up August 6-9.
