“THUNDER VALLEY”
Cowboy Action Shooting

April 2008 Newsletter

Howdy Cowfolks!
Rain, Rain go way. The first two months of the shooting season have been unusually tough on ranges in our Region. Our scheduled March match was cancelled due to wet ground conditions, and the weather forecast for our April match was very uncertain. However, 38 shooters braved the windy and chilly conditions in March, and successfully enjoyed a day of fun. 43 shooters looked beyond the sketchy rain forecast on April 19, and showed up to throw lead down range, with only an occasional drizzle on themselves and equipment. 11 more shooters showed up for the unscheduled rain date on April 20. Knob Creek and Pleasant Valley have also worked hard to maintain their respective facilities under wet and soggy conditions. Our pitch-in dinner on Saturday was the usual success. Food was awesome and plentiful. Many a tale tall and several small lies were told around the campfire on Friday and Saturday nights.
Many folks have renewed their memberships, and we have already acquired nine brand new members for the year. A big "thanks" to all the new folks that have shown up at Thunder Valley early in the season. With the ongoing support of members and visiting shooters, Thunder Valley will continue to improve and grow for many years to come.
One of our officers, Graver has decided to step down from the position of vice-president, due to health/personal reasons. Nominations will be accepted for any member interested in filling a position as an officer of Thunder Valley. The board of officers will review all nominees, and will vote on filling the vacancy in the next few months. Please forward all nominations to me via email or by telephone.    It appears that the Tonto Rim retail store in Seymour, Indiana will remain open indefinitely. I was in the store last week, and it is absolutely stuffed with Cowboy merchandise. They are expecting a large shipment of gun leather in June. Stop in a pay them a visit.
Congratulations to Abu, Cannon ball McKay, Flintlock Fields, Lorenzo Lain, Short Fuse Ruby, and Windy City Kid for their "Clean" match in April.
Happy April Birthday to : Vaquero Hayes, Wild Card Reno McGee, Chicago Steeley, Chief Old Timer, and Lefty Shakes.
The Kentucky State competition is just around the corner, May 2-4. If you haven't been to Hooten Old Town, in McKee, Ky., head their way for the KY State match. It is a unique facility with an old western town in front of the shooting area. It gives the feeling of being in Dodge City or Tombstone in the 1800's. Lot's of friendly folks will be waiting to greet you.

Sincerely,
Redneck Rebel & Ellie Mae .
